Bereaved Mother’s Day

Bereaved Mother’s Day is observed on the first Sunday in May. While the world is busy getting ready for the more widely celebrating Mother’s Day on the second Sunday of May, grieving moms who have lost a child are often forgotten. A person whose child has died is STILL a mother.    

Your time and thoughtfulness can make a world of difference to a grieving parent. Here are some other ways you can support a friend, neighbor, family member, co-worker who is experiencing loss:

·       Mail a card with a handwritten note of encouragement.

·       Send flowers or a cookie delivery.

·       Schedule a coffee date. Offer hugs and uninterrupted listening.

·       Refrain from giving advice. Instead, listen and acknowledge this unique grief story.
