Celebrating earth day

If you are looking for ways to teach your children to give back, Earth Day (April 22) is the perfect occasion! Get the whole family involved to help preserve and protect our amazing planet. Here are some ideas from my Gift of Green Time books:

·       Create a family pledge/poster of visible ways you can take action. Find ways to include kids’ ideas to encourage cooperation.

·       Invite neighborhood friends to go on a litter walk. Pass out “Earth Day Hero” certificates to recognize kids’ efforts.

·       Plant milkweed seeds for the monarch butterflies.

·       Walk or bike instead of driving.

·       Visit a farmer’s market and try a new, organic veggie. Ask if your market offers free samples for kiddos!

“We have such a brief opportunity to pass on to our children our love for this Earth, and to tell our stories. These are the moments when the world is made whole.” ~ Richard Louv
